A first family outing and a full day for keen anglers do not need the same itinerary.
Tell your guide what matters most: learning to fish, time together, exploring the coast or spending longer working the local opportunities. Include the ages and experience levels in your group. A clear brief is more useful than choosing the longest trip automatically.

Before you book
Six questions worth asking.
1. How much time do we actually have?
Work backwards from your other commitments and allow for travel, meeting the guide and preparing to leave. Live Life Coastal offers two- and three-hour outings in select morning or evening windows, a four-hour half day, a six-hour extended trip and an eight-hour full day.
A short trip can fit around holiday plans. A half day gives a group time for a focused local fishing experience. Longer trips allow more flexibility as conditions change, but do not guarantee a particular catch. Confirm departure and return times personally before arranging a tightly timed activity afterwards.
2. Is the quoted price for a seat or the private boat?
Make sure you are comparing like with like. Live Life Coastal's published rates cover the entire boat for up to four guests. You are not buying seats on a shared departure. The rates page is the source for current prices and any select-date special; this guide does not duplicate temporary offers.
Ask for the final total and check what is included before paying. Fishing equipment, instruction and legal catch cleaning and bagging are supplied here; breakfast sandwiches and a BBQ lunch are included on the eight-hour trip. Guests arrange their required fishing licences. Confirm food, drinks and any applicable taxes or agreed extras for your chosen trip.
3. Who is guiding us, and what boat will we use?
Look beyond a scenic photograph: ask about the actual vessel, the guide's experience, safety equipment and arrangements for your group. Randy has more than 35 years of experience fishing British Columbia waters, including time as Head Guide at Queen Charlotte Lodge.

4. What can we realistically fish for?
Ask about opportunities for your actual dates and trip length, not just fish pictured in a gallery. Weather, location, season and current regulations affect the plan. A photograph of a past catch is not a promise of what you can catch or keep on your day.

5. Where do we meet, and what should we bring?
For guests staying in Parksville or Qualicum Beach, remember that this charter departs from Sunshine Beach Marina in Nanoose Bay. Exact meeting and parking instructions are provided when the trip is confirmed. Do not assume accommodation transfers are included.
Plan for layered clothing, weatherproof outerwear, non-slip shoes, sun protection and personal medication. 6. What confirms the booking, and what if plans change?
Read the deposit, cancellation and weather terms before paying, not afterwards. An availability inquiry is only the beginning of the conversation. Live Life Coastal confirms a booking after accepting it and receiving the required 50% deposit.
Deposits are non-refundable; the full booking terms explain date-transfer conditions and other responsibilities. Randy monitors conditions and contacts guests if the planned trip is unsuitable. Ask questions before committing so everyone understands the arrangement.
